First time snow boarding... 2:22AM

So now it was Wednesday and we arose, once again early and expectant of an excellent day. Unfortunetly it was spitting lightly outside but apparently Turoa was still open so we went to the hire shop and I traded in my skiis for a snow board. Shortly after we were up the hill and I was ready to learn snow boarding. The conditions were not quite as good. It was a little overcast and snowed lightly a couple of times higher up. The wind was a little stronger than the day before and there were more people but still it rocked. I was on the learners slope for an hour taking leasons from the Aussies. I had barely managed to learn how to turn properly when they decided they wanted to go up on the chairlift. I decided to jump in the deep end. My first board down sucked. It took ages to get my foot in and then I slipped and slid the whole way down in almost white out conditions. Never to fear I was straight back up there and the second time was much better. The conditions even cleared up a little. I found I prefered boarding backwards, on my toes. To counter this I started spinning round as I went down the slope to get experience on all sides. By the end of the day I had been up to the higher (but still easy) slopes and was doing a few little jumps and good boarding. I loved it. I had had a few wipe outs and was covered in snow lots of the time but it was cool. I didn't want to leave when 3 o'clock came around. But we had to so we hopped in the car and headed back to pack up and then back to Palmy.

I ended up driving for about half way and wasn't feeling too bad but the worst was to come the next day. We got back to Kates place then Thomas came and picked me up. Pretty much hung out with Thomas and Mum then went to bed early. I had had a tough day. The next morning I was stiff in many new muscles I hadn't known existed and still today I can feel some of them. I am surprised at how my abs feel. They must have been well worked out. Snow boarding rocks. I truely enjoyed it but am still not sure whether I enjoy skiing better or not. Will have to wait until I get better before I can compare. Snow boarding is definitly easier to pick up I think and progress but skiing has a certain kind of elegance to it. I think I will keep up both.

Yesterday was an easy day. Went for a stroll through town with Thomas. Picked up a video, Vanilla Sky and some food and came home. Played some guitar and had fish & chips for dinner. Kate came over and watched the movie with us. It was a little slow I thought but otherwise good. I picked the point where the vanilla sky came in but didn't realise its significance. Just a little bit different with an original idea.

Went to bed earlish again and had a good sleep. Today I have visited mums school where she works which was cool. All the kids were pretty friendly, saying hi Mr Computer man and one girl showed me her project which was cool. I reckon I could be a teacher if they got better pay. Mum handles kids really well. Telling them off for running in the coridor and stuff. She will definitly be good at looking after my kids while I go skiing :)

Anyway now I hang out with Tom. Mums coming home soon then its back off to Wellington. I have been invited to Toms (siftys) return drinks at work tonight but have a family dinner somewhere to go to instead. Might catch up with Tom after that. Tom & Crispy may be going skiing on Sunday so might try to get in on that otherwise I have a shouted meal with Bev & Jo on Sunday and some other friends to catch up with. Danielson is going away to Auckland on Saturday, back Sunday so will have the house to myself. Lots to do. Tom-arse has brought the IR components so we might have a go at soldering that together. Otherwise things are rocking. Can't wait to catch up with Tom. I am sure he has many stories to tell and he's been gone since before the Perihelion existed so must talk about that
