The enlightened state of Frisson.

How to explain this state of intense excitement called frission? I explain it simply as an overload of the senses. It can happen for many reasons such as built up excitement brought too high to contain or an overload of physical senses such as sky diving, skiing etc. The brain can't handle all the signals and breaks down, you get hysterical (kind of) and laugh or giggle or scream in excitement to let some energy out. Its a release system but it has a side effect. All other senses, muscles are released, relaxed. You are intensly relaxed after this moment. Totally at peace with the world. Happier than you've ever been. As the brain is overloaded it fries and forgets all its settings. It lets go of your tense shoulders, your frowning eyebrows and your tension headache. Suddenly you feel great. Suddenly you are totally relaxed. This is similar to the cold shivers relaxation state. It is a natural state and I am going to investigate whether it is attainable from a normal state or not just by phycing ones self up.

So anyway after lunch I caught up with the girls again and took them up the chair lift. Amy was still learning so I chucked her in the deep in. Soon she was hooning down the hill (and crashing down it) at good speeds. Still too slow for me so after a long wait I took off for the highest slopes again. Once more I admired the excellent view and the awesome scenery. There is something about nature that we see as beautiful (I know it sounds dumb but why is a hill more beautiful than a city or a concrete building????). So the day ended we headed down the hill, all worn but happy, very happy. After packing we headed to the Powderkeg for some hot pool action then it was a quick feed then back home. Amy slowly stiffened up in the car trip back and I drove most of the way. She had an excellent day and so did I but I had found that on skiis I kept wanting to spin around and go backwards, like on a snowboard. I might be spoilt now for good...

By the time we were almost home Amy got me to call Fi and get her to come up the drive and carry her stuff back down for her. Today she txted me and said ""There are no words to describe the pain"". Hehehe, she is happy in her pain. I want to snowboard again now but now I have a dilemma, two parties on the weekend, same night. One with my cousin (family thing, fun but no girls my age), one with people I don't know, a dress up, with, potentially girls and lots of people to meet. Might have to try do both...

Today I did much. Helped out a mate who I wrote my first program for, went shopping with Tom and sent off a postcard and two parcels. One to Eddie with food and a pack of jelly babies with their heads bitten off. Don't ask why just that it would be boring without it... :

Tuesday trip to Ohakune to ski with Amy... 9:27AM

So Monday night Amy came round all excited about snow boarding, we packed my stuff into the car and we headed off to Ohakune once more...

The drive up was awesome. We talked for ages and I told her of Meads getting to know each other driving conversation. Amy already knew me pretty well and I her. We swapped a few personal stories that no one knew about us and I learned that she was FOUR LYLIC STRAWBERRIES.

Later that night we arrived in Ohakune. We found Kirsty's place and met all the flatmates. They were really friendly and welcomed us in. After a bit of a catch up we were shown a flatmates (who wasn't there at the time) photos that he had just brought back. Deep in the middle of them was a big pair of breasts. The girls found it most amusing and couldn't wait till he came home to find out whose they were. When he finally did turn up tho Amy couldn't stop from grinning. He was pretty coy about the photo and didn't say whose they were. So eventually it was late and time for bed. Lizzie & Lisa gave up there beds to Amy & I (three of them share a room with a single bed each) which was very nice. We got to sleep all ready for the next morning...

Next morning we awoke, 7:30 sharp. The girls didn't want to get up as it was COLD but I was their Hitler and forced them up... eventually. And it was cold. I got dressed and ready and then waited around for the girls. Later on we went and hired gear then went to the PowderKeg for breakfast. Then it was time to hoon up the mountain. All of us were in high spirits. Energy was flowing and it was to be the first time snowboarding for many of them. I had opted for skiis as my tailbone was still tender from the last time snowboarding.

Up the mountain the day was perfect. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and not a breath of wind. Everyone had gone round to Whakapapa for the x-games so there wasn't even that many people there. We had picked the perfect day for it altho there had been more snow the first time I went up. I was excited, all frissoned out. I took the girls to the learners slope and gave them some pointers (also managed to fall over, one of my three falls, embarrassingly on the learners slope). After getting them going I was up the hill. After a few quick runs I hitched up to the highest points on the mountain. I felt like I was on top of the world. By this time low lying cloud had rolled in and as I looked out over the kilometer of snow past the base of the mountain I saw why this land of ours was called the land of the long white cloud. I was above the cloud, beyond its power somehow. Far off in the distance I could see the peak of Mt Taranaki thrusting up through the clouds. After standing in awe for some moments and wishing I had my camera there I decided to tackle the slope. I took off and quickly gained amazing speed. As I sped down the hill, with the wind whipping past my face, my mouth broke out into a grin, ever larger and larger. Frisson over took me and I felt like I was enlightened to a higher state of being. It was excellent. I reached the bottom of the slope with tears in my eyes and a residual feeling of frisson. I hopped on the lift for another run and found I could hype myself up to the same state as before by thinking to myself, yeah, yeah! YEAH! YEAH! It was awesome.
