Installing the new computer hardware, trusting instinct over luck 2:27AM

So I installed my new hardware last night. It required a little mucking about, swapping my DVD drive and CDROM drive around as the DVD drive stuck out over the RAM chips on the motherboard and the CD one was high enough that it didn't cover the chips. After this it was a simple matter of slipping the RAM in and walla! I have an extra 256MB RAM for just $75, sweeeet. Next it was the harddrive, an 80GB seagate baracuda. This baby was a little harder as I didn't have easy access to one side of the drive bays so screwing it in was a mish. I finally got it done though and learnt how to partition and format a new drive through XP. It was pretty pain free once you knew how. So after copying accross all my data I now have 20GB free on the original drive and 50 odd on the other. Life is once again sweet. Time for a good old defragging methinks...

So I was walking back through Manners Mall today at lunch time and they are doing heaps of pavement work there with much of the area fenced off and I got this feeling that I wanted to go to the lotto store and buy an instant kiwi. I had to walk across the loose gravel to get there and I almost didn't but I thought might as well go with the instinct. I crossed over and as I walked in the door I saw a shiny new 5c piece lying in the middle of the floor. I bent over in one smooth movement and scooped it up wearing my suit and all. I walked over to the counter and asked for a $1 instant kiwi pointing at the first roll there. As I said it I thought shit, wrong roll, the other one looks cooler (shinier) but I then thought, nah go with the instinct, second descisions are never good. So too late anyway, I got my instant kiwi and went over to scratch it. I got 2 $2's straight up and thought it was a sure thing but after that I got a whole lot of other numbers and no more $2's but I noticed I had lots of $4's and after tripple checking took it up to the counter for my $4 cash in. I was pretty stoked! Another 400% gain investment paid off.

Moral of the story: Don't trust your instincts when it comes to luck. Even though they are right every once and a while they are more often wrong and next time when it counts they will let you down.

Thought you'd like that one ;) enjoy your day
