A call from Robyn. The complier discussion with Tom. 6:19AM
Geeze! I'm halfway down the list and its only been a couple of days since last I posted.
Once more the world spins fast beneath my feet and I find myself running to catch up. In brief my birthday went well, if not quietly in comparison to past years. I went out to dinner with Bonnie at Mondocapino (sp?) which was pretty cool. We then got out a DVD and watched it on my new(ish) home bedroom entertainment system (watching DVDs in bed on the computer, the latest craze). It was all good. The video rental dude asked my password then wished me a happy birthday. He then declined my offering of paper currency and said ""Its on me..."". Sweet. I should have birthdays more often.
Next day after work brother Tom came round. The discussion then took a decidedly geeky turn. Not after my sister had rung up unexpected from Ireland. Apparently it was still my birthday there and she was wishing me a happy birthday. Well she did better than brother Tom who only realised it after she explained her reason for ringing up. He now has a present for me :) Its a genetic thing in our family. Dad got the wrong month for my birthday one year and I'm terible with dates as well. I write all birthdays out on a calendar at the start of a year. Then when I turn the month I see it there and can't forget (well its a bit harder to forget).
So Tom and I nutted out how to write a parser for condition statements. We argued late into the night on the best implementation methods with him pushing the harder to implement, but more correct method and me trying to convince him of a much better way of coding it that was faster but not quite as tidy. Go the gurus. It was hardcore. If you were a chick and you were in the room you would have been drawn to us like magnets. Nobody can resist geekiness at full power. Bonnie left after a couple of hours of this. She has an iron will and it must have been hard for her to leave with all that attraction going on.
So last night Steve, Bonnie and I went up to one of Bonnie's workmates places to check out a car. I am in the market and its about time. It seemed alright but Steve reckon's its over priced. I am in no hurry so we shall see where things go. Good to get started though.
So whats the plan now? Going out to a film festival movie tonight with Bonnie which is about Luck being a tradable commodity. Looks interesting, will let you know how it is. Tomorrow is a catch up dinner with B&J; and M and B&Me.; J is bringing along wedding wine to test. I am the tester amoung others. Rock on. Sunday, late at night I am travelling to Palmy where I start my first, out of Wellington, work. I am up there for a 4 day week (same hours compressed into 4 days). Should be cool. More on that later. I will be bored shitless up there so will probably post more. Right gotta go, later gators, or as Dan would say, funky monkeys...
