Big weekend... 12:22PM
It was a BIG weekend and I wasn't even here for most of it. Sevens on Friday and Saturday. Heaps of people dressed up in groups of similar costumes. Lots of people in town. Chinese New Years and apparently the biggest and best fireworks display ever. I wasn't here to see it.
Had a farewell at work (yet another) on Friday night then went out to Arizona. They have gutted Arizona and re-done the inside. Its all empty space and glass windows and looks like Mr Bunn (a cafe/bakery). I don't like it but theres more floor space so they can fit more people in I guess.
Saturday was a HOT day. I was a little hung over so we got off to a slow start. Finally headed off in the car to Palmy to catch up with Robyn and mum for mums birthday.
Palmy was also hot. We sat out in the shade and drank wine and ate good foods and caught up.
That night we had dinner out on the lawn under the stars. My theory that girls get bitten more by sandflies had data added to it as Bonnie and Robyn were covered in bites and before it went dark I only had one. After it got dark though I got bitten heaps but not having scratched the bites they were all gone by the next morning. Still there is a missing factor here.
Saw the freakiest thing at the end of the night though. It was around midnight and mum was just walking her friends home. Bonnie was engrossed with watching ants eat a weta she had acidently stood on when behind the trees I saw an orange ball descend behind the trees. It was larger than a plane and had a well defined outline unlike a comet which should be a long streak. It also moved in a straight line like a plane descending or a comet, not in a parabolic arc like something thrown. I can't tell you what it was just that it was not due to me seeing things, I'd had a few drinks but was otherwise OK. Also mum and her friend saw it from the road independantly. We were outside so it wasn't reflections from any glass we were looking through and it appeared behind the trees so it was at least a few sections away and appeared to be (altho very hard to tell) at least a kilometer away although if it was then it would have been pretty damn large.
Next morning I took to the vines that were strangling mums lemon tree, relaxed a bit then after lunch we headed home. Palmys a strange place. On the way back we passed a guy who looked topless. On closer inspection he was totally naked and covering his private parts with one hand while he had his thumb out trying to hitch with the other. He was also very orange. Very strange. We felt sorry for him. He had probably been out on a stage do or something and got too pissed and his mates had stripped him naked, coloured him orange and left him out in the middle of nowhere.
