having a great time up here in mareeba! work is all good, the people are cool and the money is coming in. plans to see some sights this extended weekend (because of australia day) and lots more fun to be had before i head back down to brissy. got heaps to do when i get back.. heaps of MESS stuff still to organise and a drug trial to do. also me and the president of chem eng, lacey (also a chick), are starting up a women in engineering society. motivation being so that the chicks that are in the same position as me (20:1 ratio of guys to girls in my course) can have some girly piss ups every now and again with other engineering chicks. and, just as importantly, to get an insight into how women fit into the engineering work place these days, by getting a few working engineering chicks in for some talks. robert kiyosaki said in his book 'if you want to be rich and happy, don't go to school?' that the next leading economic nation will be the one that fully accepts women into the workplace. i think it is pretty valid and i would love to be part of that. will write more about that at some stage i think.... bed time no
