it has been raining the last couple of days here. rain is great. well when it hasn't been around for a while anyway. unfortunately in brissy most citizens are not used to the rain and tend not to understand the golden rule.
-> when walking with an umbrella along narrow walk-ways it needs to be lifted in order to let other people pass in the other direction.
brisbanites forget that when carrying an umbrella they are about 3 times as wide as when not carrying an umbrella. hence i have spent all day today (having lectures on alternating sides of campus) playing dodge the umbrella. for me its not too much of a hassle. being slightly less vertically endowed i don't have far to duck. unless of course umbrella weilding person is even more vertically challenged than me. but for those poor souls more than 5 foot tall it must be a total bitch.
