Canadian theme bar 1:23AM
So another weekend came and went.
Friday was a super quite night. I was pretty tired after three days of 8-6 work. That's the only work I've had since hitting London. Things are pretty seriously bad jobwise here.
Any way it ended up a quite night in front of telly. The flat I'm staying in currently has Sky Digital. This rocks. There are 18 music channels. Including some four or so MTV variants, and a couple of dedicated dance music channels. There is also always at least one decent movie on, so it's a great way to save money, by having a lazy night in on the couch.
Saturday I met up with Craig in Covent Garden, at a Canadian theme bar. I swear there is a theme bar for everything over here, well at least every nationality. This was simply a good meeting place, since we could both find it, but we quickly left that bar and located a couple of good lounge bars before leaving town for the flat I'm staying at (Craig's sister lives there which is how I ended up staying) After some food and couch surfing, Craig and I finally ventured out to a local bar where some friends of his were having a birthday bash or something. This is a large but not especially interesting bar themed on the blues and the Blues Brothers movie. We were expecting to return to the flat after a couple of beers. But much to our surprise there was a downstairs area, which was invite only, filled with people and some good DJs. So the few quite drinks turned in to an xl sized night. When I finally got home at 4.30am I was in no mood for sleeping so made a call to a friend in NZ. Don't know if I made any sense but at least I didn't get them out of bed!
Sunday after about 3 hours of very low quality sleep I headed out to meet up with two friends to watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham palace. Well now I can say I've seen it at least, and don't need to go back! Oh the excitement! Hold me back.
After that we jumped on a ferry and headed down the Thames to Greenwich. Incase you missed that part of 5th form science, this is where the worlds time is kept and where all other times are offset from. It's also the place where the planet is arbitrarily divided into the eastern and western hemispheres, and has some pretty buildings, parks and the Cutty Sark sailing boat in a dry dock. So I of course set my watch very accurately to the atomic clock and stepped from hemisphere to hemisphere a couple of times. Due to some especially good planning on my part (i.e. none whatsoever) we had got the one day of the year all the museums around there were free (rather than '7.50!). So it was a pretty fine day all in all.
