'if it was broken you couldn't walk' 10:11AM
So I've wandered into Ashes house on my day off to do some serious surfing. No one is around but nobody locks their doors around here anyway. So I'm listening to all my MP3s on Mikes PC. I came over with my CDs of MPEGs a while back to copy some old school hiphop onto cassette to listen to at work (sorry that should be 'old skool'). He liked all my MP3s so copied the CD. Now heres this 18 year old dude from Denver listening to all this NZ Dub and UK Drum and Bass tunes.
Wicked.
So anyway despite it being a very nice day.. its like 3C currently.. and feels like I should be wandering around in shorts.. i'm sitting inside.
The other day, slighty hungover and tired from my birthday the day before, not really paying full attention, I was riding down from the top of our lift. I landed a bit out of shape, crashed big stylee hurting my ankle somehow. Bit of bummer, still had to happen eventually I suppose, with all the riding i've been doing. Popped into the Ski Patrol locker room, which is near the top of our lift. They strapped up my ankle and rather helpfully told me that it wouldn't be broken if I could still walk. I worked the rest of the day till about 3pm until my foreman, actually 'foreperson' being PC, Kristine, showed up and told me to go down to the clinic and get it checked properly. She put me on the back of Ski-doo with Karl, one of our lifts mechanics. Who took me down a specially dodgy route through some trees, probably risking further injury but plenty fun. So after a couple of Xrays and some comparison with my other foot, I turns out all I did was manage to pull a muscle in the top of my foot. Even by 12pm that day it was feeling massivley better. So its all covered under workers comp, since I was at work, assuming of course I pass the drug test (fingers crossed!). I've been back at work since then but I'm not allowed to snowboard for a week. Which isn't all bad since the place is still swarming with people on spring break.. lots of peopel who can't ski and gigling 16 year old girls from states like Texas and Kansas.. and the snows not very good anyway. So its extra days of work and more money.
So anyway I've got quite a bit to write about. There some cool stuff coming up here. Which I will write about afterwards.. I've got the rest of the goals that I started writing up a while back, some of which have been going very well. Theres my master plan for the next while.. (as soon as I think of it ;).. and my ongoing midlife crisis to moan about.. actually I won't bore you with that..
Also I came up with my top ten albums of all time the other day.. so I'll write those up here.
So my birthday? Well not a big deal. When you've had as many as me you get a blase (sp?) about them. I worked and then went with my roomate Paul and his girlfriend, Becca, to this aussie girls place. She'd voluteered to cook me a birthday dinner after she showed up at ours once and scoffed something Pauls mum had cooked while she was visiting here. So had a very nice roast beef and chocolate cake. All good.
Tabertrash 10:28AM
Oh whopps almost forgot about the party in Tabertrash the other day. Tabernash is about 5 miles along the main road in the opposite direction from the resort. Everyone calls it Tabertrash.. Anyway there some employee housing there. But there is also a rather large private house where about 10 people live. They've rented it for the season, and they regularly throw some pretty wicked parties. All of them work various places around the resort, but at anytime there seem to be quite a few mates staying there too. So anyway the first party I went to there was a build a bar party. Everybody bought a bottle of spirits, they provided the mixers. Very messy. Then there was the punch party. At another party, Preston, crazy New Yorker I work with, had made something he called 'Stupid juice'. Basically a nasty, but oddly quite tasty punch made with Kool Aid and Everclear. Everclear is about 90 proof and may as well be ethanol!. So anyway the next Tabertrash party they got a clean rubbish bin and filled it with this punch. Any bottle, except beer that people brought was added.
Another very messy party.
So the one the other day they got four kegs in and a mate to DJ. Its like the first time in about 5 months I've heard decent music played by a DJ! Very wicked, especially considering most bars around here are still stuck on hippie rock! Lots of Led Zep and other stuff I'd rather not hear
