The last UK entry for now? 12:32PM
Well okay this will be the last UK entry. For the immediate furture at any rate. Probably also the last decent entry for a while since computers won't be so freely available till I hit NZ.
Tomorrow its into a taxi at 5am British Summer Time (GMT +1), onto a bus at 5:30am BST, then a plane at 11am BST, then a car at about 1:30pm ET (Eastern Time). Then I should see family for the first time in about 17 months.
Sorry about yesterdays epic entry. I was a bit bored and had plenty to write about. Today though its going to be shorter, I still have to pack and really have to post some stuff to NZ that I can't bring myslef to throw out, but can't fit in my luggage.
Okay update from where yesterday left off. Returned the rental car on Saturaday night after dropping my shit off at Sarahs place. The rental had come from a place just slightly north of Liverpool street station. In the 'City'. So I had quite a cool walk back through the deserted business area of town, across the Thames and into The Borough. It was a nice warm evening, despite having had a pretty crap unskilled job for the week I felt a bit better about my life in general. Like I had more of a purpose. Met up with Marcus and non PHB Tania at the Dover. Marcus has been staying at the hostel above the bar attempting to get a job of some sort between now and when a residental medical trial kicks off. Tania is off to Italy and eastern Europe on Tuesday so it was nice of her to turn up and say goodbye. Unfortunatly Tania had her cellphone stolen at the bar. Which was a bit of bummer. Specially considering she caught the last Tube home, and realised half way back she didn't have her phone. Of course she couldn't call any of us, not having our numbers. So she got off the north bound train and onto the southbound one and came back to the bar. Of course since she'd now missed the last train and had to catch a cab home, she stayed for another couple of rounds to drown her sorrows.
Sunday I bummed around a couple of markets with Sarah. Her partner was coming back that evening form overseas so she was busy replacing all the pot plants she'd managed to kill in his absence. That night I came back up to cambridge, Ben and I got beer, takeaways and a DVD. The first hot food in about 8 days! and it was a burger and chips.
Yesterday I went downstairs to borrow a pair of scales. Bens place in on the second floor above a gym. Every morning till I got used to it I used to be woken up by weights and medicine balls hitting the floor at 6am. It was the first time I'd ever been into the gym and it was all a little bit flash to be honest. I suppose I'd been expecting something a bit more ghetto. Like concrete blocks instead of proper weights, a large smokey room domintaed by a large boxing ring. Lots of nasty looking guys with tatoos punching those hanging bag things, saw dust on the floor. I was a little dissapointed to find a beautiful clean gym.. Any way they lent me a pair of scales and I weighed my bike, which I've packed into a box.
33kg.
No!!! How the hell I manage to accumulte so much stuff I'll never know. I'm like a magnet for junk.
