Brought a scooter on Thursday. It's the frame of a 1967/68 Vespa 50cc Super. This is a project to keep me out of trouble, and there is plenty to do since basically all I got on Thursday was a piece of metal in the shape of a Vespa. It had nothing in the way of motor, wheels, trim nothing.. just a metal frame. Its been sand blasted, repaired and painted by a panel beater a deep gloss black colour. I actually brought it from the panel guy who is trying to recover some of his costs when the person refused to pay for what had been agreed for this guys work. A deal for me since I get a bike with a lot of work already done for less than a rusting heap would have cost. Today Leon, who has done-up several other scooters and I went and got second hand most of the parts we need. He's doing up two scooters, and owns two others so he's in the know about what to get.
It was cool to get my hands dirty again and muck around with engines and parts. Unlike all my project cars it's quite manageable and I've bypassed the thing that usually held me up previously. Namely shelling out several thousand to a panel beater to remove rust and paint it.
All good. Target date is to have it all going for summer. Since riding a bike around in the rain sucks arse anyway.
Other news? Bugger all really. Feeling a bit seedy today after some freebie drinks a supplier for work put on last night. Managed to meet up with Peta and catch up which was cool. I'd spoken to her earlier in the week on the phone but it was cool to see her in person. (Even if the location she'd chosen to hang out wasn't a place I ever want to go again!).
Had three offers for skiing this weekend. One was for transport only, and was with people who were heading up there for other activities. So I would have had to sort accommodation and probably ski on my lonesome. (Although it transpired today that there were other people who'd had the same offer and had refused since they thought they'd be skiing on there own. The other two offers came on Friday night. One at about 5pm, with about 30 minutes notice, the other was later and was only for today, after I'd sort of committed to go shopping for scooter parts by then.
So hopefully next weekend.
