Stink 5:48AM

I didn't sleep that well last night. I went to bed around 10 o'clock and read for a while then tried to sleep. But I was excited (or stressed) about the Fletcher Challenge that was looming close on the horizon. My mind went into hyper drive thinking of all the possible senarios that might be played out; getting chased through the construction yard by the cops; falling from a great height off a crane; peoples faces peering in through the little windows cut in the wall; or a big investigation afterwards. I think I finally drifted off around 2am sometime. It wasn't a good sleep as I woke up at 3:30 to the sound of rain. Damn it I thought, how can it be raining when it was such a nice day yesterday? I fell back asleep then work up to my alarm. My radio was on but I couldn't work out why the alarm wasn't beeping like alarms should do. I finally worked out that my alarm turns on the radio rather than beeping - I am not that on to it sometimes when I first wake up. So I got up and looked outside. There was water on the plants from the rain and it was cold. I hopped back into bed and text messaged Damian telling him it had rained. Just then it started raining again so I thought we had better call it off. I sent him another message then fell asleep. I woke up at 5am from a message from Damian. He was asking where I was. He has just got a new phone and so has two numbers at the moment and I never know which one to send to. Apparently I had sent to his other phone, probably lying under piles of clothes somewhere in his house. So I told him it had been raining and that I had messaged him before so we called it off and went back to sleep. I slept really well from then on and got up at 10 the next morning...

It was still cold at 10am and raining a bit. I couldn't sleep any more so got up and had a shower. I decided to check when the movies were on as I had heard good things about Shrek. Shrek was playing in 15 mins so I scoffed down some cornflakes and threw on a jacket and jogged off to the picture theatre. It only takes me 5 mins from my place jogging which is good, unless you go to the wrong one! Luckily the right one was a couple of minutes down the street. Got there before it started playing and sat back and enjoyed a good movie. I was really impressed with the computer graphics, they have come a long way from the first computer generated movies. Soon they will be virtually indistinguishable from real life movies which is cool. So I got home after that and went for a quick jog up Mt Vic. Didn't get far as the hill is quite steep but it felt good. I checked my phone and found that Damian had been trying to call me. Doh! I remembered he had wanted to borrow my camera for the day. I gave him a call and found he hadn't slept that well last night either.

Fiona invited me over to eat some pavalova she had left over from her brothers party the night before. Mmmmm Yummy! So hung round there for a couple of hours talking to them. I walked into Amys room to find Char and Amy in bed together talking. They said they were fully pyjamaed underneath the sheets but you never know ;

So another day had passed. The Fletcher Challenge had been postponed yet again leaving me to wonder if someone was trying to tell me that it was just not meant to be. I got home and Gerry reminded me that she was cooking a roast duck that night for tea which I was welcome to have some of. Sweet. I was feeling hungry right then but for a roast I could wait. So tonight I will sift through the pile of mail thats been sitting on my draws for the past month. I also want to create a little movie to stick on a web site as an invite for my birthday. That could be cool. I rang up a place today about that but the person to talk to wasn't there so I'll ring back tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow I am very very hopeful that I'll get my usual pay slip along with a letter saying I've been given a pay rise and with a very slight but none-the-less greater than zero chance of us getting a quarterly bonus. See how sweet tomorrow could be? I am bound to be let down.

Right let us talk instead briefly of physics. Having survived many a summer under the baking Alexandrian sun (summer once brought us a 40 degree celsius day and many over 30 degree days) I couldn't help but come up with the following device. I call it the light bomb but in reality it is unlikely to create an actual explosion, it is the idea behind it that I thought was cool. This was to create a sphere, black in appearance as it was to be made of a material with similar properties to one-way-glass in that light could go in but could not escape. So the inside was reflective. Once light got in it would bounce about forever on the inside. Hence you would unshealth one of these light bombs and throw it out into the sunlight. Photons from the sun would penetrate into the centre of the sphere then would bounce around in there forever. As more and more built up they would begin to heat the ball until it either burst in an intense flash of light or melted down under the combined heat of all those photons. Pretty cool huh? Yeah ok, don't tell me the reasons why this won't work, I can think of a few myself, but it was the idea that was cool. Light trapped within a body until it built up to an extreme amount of energy. The power of light is quite under estimated, when focused sunlight has amazing energy, imagine what the sun is pumping out everyday..
