The Techtonics 15th birthday... 11:18AM
Close your eyes for a second and the world speeds round faster than ever before. I just haven't had time to write up an entry and its been three or four days, one of my longest times without entering yet.
If you were to ask me what happened this weekend I don't think I could recall it all, I don't think I could fit it all in nor find the correct words in the English language to descibe everything. This was one of those weekends that changes you. For me this was not a life altering change but rather a restoration, a return to the old me. Theres a lot of people to thank for this, a lot of cool friends, but I think I should just start back where I left off in this never-ending story that is my life, back on Thursday when I was still looking forward to the Techtonics 15th birthday, back when I hadn't danced on lighted disco floors, nor seen space transvestites before nor danced in Vespa all by myself for over an hour...
Let us peak through the wavey fog that is time, back to 5:15pm Thursday, as I was leaving my house, venturing out into the dull, coldish day, wearing my suit once again, for the first time in months, and I mean months. It felt strange, kinda like you were wearing a leotard and you knew everyone was going to stare at you cause you were a weirdo. The feeling didn't last long. 5 minutes inside the dark and dingy interior of Pheonix with a greenly glowing midori & lindauer in my hand and I felt right at home. Funny how I'm comfortable in a suit in the pub...
The venue was superb. Lots of cooly dressed up people with Dean the space transvestite out doing everyone.
The girls also looked very cool and very sexy! Just the kind of shaggable space girls you would expect to find on a long voyage space ship! It was cool, and those little green ring lights that you could hold under your drink to make it glow green rocked. They kept me occupied for ages. So anyway it was cool to catch up with everyone. After a few drinks I ended up downstairs (the place has three levels) where the dance floor was and was trying to convience a client to get up and dance. He seemed particularily interested in seeing the space girls dance. I told him I'd sort it. Unfortunetly no one was keen so it ended up me and Kate (yet another Kate) taking the dance floor. The dance floor rocked. It was covered in square coloured pannels that lit up in patterns, there was also smoke and lights and lots cool stuff overhead (see photos).
Anyway it was cool to be the first one on the dance floor but everyone else was either a wuss or not drunk enough yet and no one joined us. So for now we left the dance floor and disappeared quietly back into the crowds.
Later on in the night and everyone got just that little bit sloshed. So admitadly it was mostly TT people left and the only ones who didn't care enough about how they looked to dance but man it rocked. We were dancing away for ages. I discovered one thing, one mite of self awarness... I can dance alright by myself but as soon as a chick takes my hand I am lost. I don't know where to go. Reason... when dancing by yourself you just make it up but when dancing with another there are set rules to obey, otherwise you just end up clobbering them. I hardly ever dance with a partner and when I do its usually when I'm real pissed and its a little closer where you don't have any rules either... anyways, rocking night. Home by 1am
Friday night, out with the guys, E'ing. 11:25AM
Believe in your friends. Believe in the magic that surrounds you in this world. Believe in yourself and I believe you might just find that which you seek...
I'm sure somebody told me the above line on Friday. Not directly, not in words as such but rather in events, a totally different kind of language, not that well defined, not that well documented.
I awoke late on Friday morning after a well deserved sleep in. Tim was coming today. I was excited. I got up and did the morning duties, shit, (no shave), shower, dishes and emails. Dan was going to come out to pick Tim up after lunch so I sat out on the steps in the beautiful sun and ate breakfast. It was the best day ever. So warm, so perfect. I could have just lain in it all day (I made lain up by the way). So Dan came home. We went out to the airport and picked Tim aka ChunkyB up and it was great to catch up. He was looking good and in the mood to party. Apparently Auckland sucks and well yeah we can all understand why he would want to come down here. We went for a wonder down town to grab a bite to eat then sat in the sun for a while. Unfortunetly I had physio so hooned off to that then back to catch up with Tim. It was SUCH a nice day. We pulled the couch round and reveled in the excellent rays that bathed our pale, fully clothed bodies. Warmth was our friend this day as we decided how best to party.
Am tired now, will continue this later..
