Why do you lick your teeth when they're furry? 4:46AM
Why is it that when you have furry teeth you can't help but lick them? Even though it feels horrible and you know you'll get an ulca on your tongue, you still do it. Its strange cause you don't lick your teeth when they're clean, or maybe you do and you just don't notice it cause they're clean.
Catching up on the week, LOTRs exhibition and movie 12:04PM
So what have I done this week? I looked after my cousins on Tuesday, took them rock climbing (they are aged 14, 12 & 10 roughly) and they were really good. I only B-layed but was still fun. Then we played Riddle of the Ring, a board game based on Lord of the Rings which I've had for 10 years now. Its quite a complex game and the little buggers whipped my arse at it. Damn... Wednesday I received some afgans (sp?) in thanks from them. Cheers guys they were nice. Also went to see LOTRs for the first time. It was pretty cool. Thursday I went to the LOTRs exhibition at Te Papa. It was awesome, its amazing the amount of effort and detail that went into that movie. Some scenes took months to build the sets for and the costumes are cool. It was cool to see all the weapons too. Funily enough the one ring was pretty boring in comparison to everything else.
Have been watching Bruce Lee movies this week from a set of five that we borrowed of Bevan Lee (similar names huh?). Fuck Bruce Lee is toned, he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him and very tight muscles for someone his size. I am impressed. It just goes to show how far you can train the body given the right drive which leads me on to where the future of humanity is heading...
Specialisation
It is interesting to note the trend from specialisation to generalisation over the past couple of 1000 years or so. Coming from a time when one grew up and became a farmer or a blacksmith or one such trade but didn't learn much about the other trades. These days schools teach us a little of everything so that an educated person could take up any number of jobs with just a little further training. Of course some areas actually require skill such the arts, etc. But anyway we are coming to a time where our children are learning the basics at an early age and then have nothing further to do. Instead they find themselves memorising facts and specialising down a narrow knowledge path. Altho this makes them good at what they do they are not truely utilising the potential of their minds. Why specialise by route learning of knowledge, why not specialise in learning instead. Once you have mastered the process of learning then it will take little effort on your behalf to become anything you want to. We have some examples of this already, the specialisation that is. Take for example (and here it comes) Bruce Lee. He has specialised to the extreme in controlling his body. If you watch the speed, flexibility and control he has over his muscles you will be amazed. But he has dedicated his life to this to become this good. Why not dedicate your life to become a thinking machine or a knowledge database or what ever. The human mind is capable of many amazing things, we just never train it properly. Mark my words, by the end of my life time people will be trained to be general purpose computers, thinkers, musicians, etc... it applies to everything we do. The process of concious thinking must be replaced by subconcious reaction, you know your answers without thinking about them, your brain has been programmed to spurt forth an answer without calculation, you are faster than this...
