I returned with many photos and some cool quartz rocks. I slept the night in the park in Picton with two deviant kids. I witnessed the Lord of the Rings premeire in Wellington. I travelled up to Auckland in Louie with Dan. Have I missed anything? We participated in the 100 club. Tom's photos of himself in a dress won me some export gold gear. I think mostly tho I consolidated friendships. Something I must continue to do this year as well. Ahh yes I also sold my first digital photo.
I think that about sums up my last year. But what about the next? I have a few things I wish to achieve...
2003 Achievements and Resolutions
I'd like to say I'm not going to get as drunk this year or as often but already as I write this I am a little hung over. My first day of this year was spent lying on a matress, paraletic, unable to move due to excess alcohol consumption from the previous year. I will see how that goes. But seriously, this year is the year that Ashes Corporation will make money. It made a little last year, maybe $250. Not much but better than nothing. This year we shall become a player. I know that I must put the written word to good use. I shall write a book and it shall sell. Another money maker. I have enough material here in my diary entries to sew together a book. What the plot would be no one knows tho. I still wish to sky dive. It shall be an accomplishment and I also wish to travel. The world is there for me to see. I just need to earn the money first. Speaking of which I must sort out a career. Speaking of speaking of which, did you know there is an inventors dole? I could do that, I have a million cool ideas. Just not the push to see them through to completion. I will pay off my student loan this year, that is for sure. It is down to 3 gees now so that shouldn't be too hard. I would also like to help make a movie. Do you think this is possible? Well summer is half over already. Things have changed greatly from the start of the year. I think I should write something creative to start this one off properly...
""...the skin, a solar powered panel, recharging the body from light, our most important comodity, the energy from which we derive our life. Life which we flaunt, caught in imaginary cycles we shop, unaware of living, of exploring of the other parts of this world that the light shines on. We hide inside instead, behind closed curtains, playing video games, watching tv, shopping through malls. We have missed what we have been shown. By the time we see it, it shall be too late...""

Something I wrote at the start of last year. I'm going to fix it up a little as evolution dictates must happen...
""In my minds eye, I envisage the city, a group of gray wisps interweaving as the people move from fast minute to minute, fading as time passes. Some wisps are brighter than others, some are stronger, some interfere more in their travels, others move virtually unnoticed. But it is the potential that I see, held back from what it could be. Two hundred thousand odd wisps, moving round and round, counteracting each other, creating order just to have it consumed back into the chaos. This thing we call society holds nothing up to efficiency. The wisps are underutilised, they are constrained by the need to live, to compete and survive by the restrictions we place upon them, that we place upon ourselves. What are we really doing here? Is it important? Fuck no. We are wasting our lives, the wisp should be free, it has things to do, it is chained from one day to the next but it is wavering. You talk of freedom, I talk of the other day.""
Achievements for 2002
2002 was a year of many things, much of which has been forgotten. I under went surgury to remove my alien growth on the side of my face, I ran a half marathon and almost killed myself, I hung out in the Botanical gardens with Dan for his 25th Birthday and showed him round Wellington and the pubs for initiation to the big city. I brought a new computer, I swam in the sea for the first time in years and I saw the Queen. Dan moved in and Gerry moved out. I told someone for the first time that I loved them and was told it in return. I quit my work. I visited Taupo and Rotorua for the first time, experienced the hot pools under the stars with bubbly, the mud pools and the geysers. I hitched to Dunedin and back. I didn't make it and slept out under the stars in Kiakora in my sleeping bag on the beach (near the railway tracks...). I ventured over to the Wairapa for the first time, visited the light house at the end of the world (Cape Palliser) and Oceans beach and the lake Ferry pub. I travelled to Castle point and experienced the excellence there and the jump point into another dimension. I watched the sun rise over this world from Mt Vic while wrapped in a blanket. I found and took photos of Ashley St and Bryant St (both in Palmy). I travelled to Ohakune for the first time. It snowed on my birthday as I had wished for. I met the Aussie supporters of the site and hung out with them. I experienced the looge (sp?) in Rotorua and was the victim of a group hickying. I visited both Whakapapa and Turoa and learnt to snow board for the first time. I took many photos and loved the views. I saw Dan find Katrina and Tim find Anna and Bev & Jo get engaged and Char & Simon get engaged. I lost two neighbours and gained two more. I found myself and started meeting chicks again. I perfected the Jandel Flip(tm) and worked on my martial arts. I joined up at the gym and haven't looked back. I tried E for the first time and discovered a new game which was called Perihelion stickering... I celebrated both my parents turning 50. I worked out next to Jonah Lomu in the gym. I experienced the DVD revolution in our house and the lounge was rearranged for the first time. I sent out letters containing instant kiwis to 10 random people. I hitched once again to Dunners then Queenstown, hung out in the mansion with Dad and his new girlfriend and walked the massive walk (7 hrs) up few creek to find lake Isobel.
