Superbank 10:51AM

Fry Day; hence Fish & Chips?

It began raining but I think it will clear up. But for now its almost cool. Long sleaves and trow weather. I don't really have much to say for now. I'm currently tidying up the Indexer, ironing out a few bugs and adding the final but vital functionality that ties the whole thing together. It'll be ready soon, soon I tell ya.

A couple of years ago I had an idea for a bank. Totally internet based with no bank fees, no charges (cause everything is electronic so why charge?) and you had total control. You could create as many accounts as you wanted online, create automatic transactions between them, etc, etc. Now finally someone has done this. I visited New World yesterday for some essential hosuehold items and was handed a SUPERBANK pamphlet. I read it through... No Fees, No Charges, No Fixed Term, No Minimum Balance and Free Internet banking. The thing that surprised me though was the interest rate, 5.29%. Quite a bit higher than my current savings account that only gives you interest on balances over $500. So I investigated adn discovered that this is a joint venture between the St. George Bank (an Australian bank) and Foodstuffs the guys who own New World and Pak N Save etc. Further investigation showed that I could open an account online and create more accounts if need be. They would then send me a pack with a direct debit form in it so that I could transfer money from my other bank via direct debit (I guess thats how itworks). So I did it and I have an account but I have yet to set it up so I can transfer from my other accounts. Sounds pretty cool though. I can have multiple free savings accounts in which to hold my money. Check them out at superbank if you're interested...

The Talented Mr Bryant... 12:08PM

Ashley Bryant is rather a talented fellow you must admit. For starters he is a Chartered Engineer who is developing a fully operational radio-controlled model of a Harrier AV8A Jump Jet, capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) (see details here). But then he's always been known as a bit of an inventor. But what about the real Ashley? The person behind the brains? In his spare time he has been working on publishing his collection of watercolour and other paintings that chart the 66-mile journey of the Derwent from its source to its confluence with the Trent. His works can be found here. In 1998 he worked at the University of Otago creating raytraced graphics for technology starved ethiopians. Some of his artwork can be found here. These are just a few of the great workings this man has achieved. Not one to be reclusive his contact details can be found here
