Trip to mums... 10:12AM

I'm sitting at Mum's place in Palmy infront of a warm fire and the Highlanders playing the Huricanes. Yup you guessed it, I've resorted to the computer and just keeping the odd eye on the rugby. Gotta keep my priotrities straight!

Well what do I have to say? I have lots of photos, I am a little tired and worn and I'm sure I'll be stiff tomorrow but lets back track...

Thursday was wet and drizzly and I walked 30mins with two bags to the railway station to catch a bus. There I met brother Tom and we rode the bus ride up to Palmy. The whole trip we sipped bourbon from my new hipflask and talked hard core compression algorithms, zips, mp3s, jpegs, mpegs, etc. Now I have a question for you. If you're on a bus is it alright to fall asleep leaning your head on someone you don't knows shoulder? A girl did this next to us. Now I know our conversation may have been slightly boring to your average layman but can you do that? It was a young girl (15ish) on an older guys shoulder. He didn't look too comfortable.

Anyway we arrived in Palmy late at night and caught up with Mum. Tom and I had planned to walk the Tongariro crossing which neither of us had done. Tom had a new Mac pack and I had a tent so we decided we would fill his pack up with my tent, a sleeping bag and jackets and clothes etc and carry it along just to get a feel for it. Anyway Friday, Good Friday, was looking a little dismal on the weather front so we opted for a sleep in and rest day that day. We hung out with mum most of the day and didn't do much. Such is Palmy. We did get out video's, go Bad Taste, which is what you do in Palmy.

We also had fun with pumpkin. This started off being like those throwing egg competitions where you throw a raw egg and someone else catchs it takes a step back then throws it back. You keep going till it breaks. We did this with a pumpkin but quickly reached the boundaries of mums section. After that we had to become more inventive. First off it was balancing a pumpkin on your head and see who could walk the furtherest but that was harder than it sounds so we invented the Pumpkin Obstacle Course. You had to run with the pumpkin, roll it under a table and leap the table, catching the pumpkin as it rolled out the other side. Run with the pumpkin to the corner of the section, balance it on your head, smack your bum with both hands without it falling off, roll it across the lawn, stopping it before it hit the concrete path, throwing it over the path then catching it on the other side then running to the gate and leaping over then leaping back. I currently hold the pumpkin obstacle course record of 16.12 seconds. We had to stop it though after Tom acquired fence jumping injuries. (I do have photos, I will post them when I return!).

Guess thats all for now, later..
