The Book of Ashes

Ashes

Legend in his own mind, creator of all you see here, he walks this Earth on the path of the becoming.

The sandstorm... 11:16AM

Somewhere in the chaos I clocked in my 10,000th viewing of The Book of Ashes. Not bad going for the kind of propoganda I write up.

Once again time is flying past. I don't righty know where its gone. Mum came down for the weekend and on Sunday we went out for a curry with her at Little India. It was all good. That day we were going to walk out to the Pencarow Lighthouse (for me to see how it was painted up properly and take photos) but we decided to walk out to Red Rocks instead since I had never been there. Mum and I started out but it was so windy it whipped up a sandstorm of small rocks and dust. I was wearing shorts and it stung my legs and face. It has horrible. The first barage we thought was a freak wind burst but after it happened a couple more times we turned back. It was pretty painful. So instead we drove up to the wind turbine and checked that out. It was my first time ever up there and it was fairly impressive. One turbine generates enough energy to power 80 households on a good day. Although this seems a good amount we still need 1000's to come even close to providing enought power for a city like Wellington and unless they ever become more efficient they will never provide enough energy to account for any large amount of our useage.

So having missed out on a walk, mum and I decided to wonder round to this big mushroom ""spy globe"" thing to get a better view of the South Island. It wasn't a particularly long walk (2.5km) but on the way we saw this castle/fortress. It had cast iron grills over all the windows and was fenced off with a high barbed wire fence and had three doberman dogs inside barking at us as we went past. The ""spy globe"" thing at the end turned out to be a radio tower thing and wasn't that interesting. It was still quite windy up here but at least there weren't any more stones.

Today was a holiday which I needed. Since it was effecively a new pay month I ""effectively"" had money to spend (even though I don't get it till Wednesday). So I went out and purchased some stuff at a Briscoes sale (a cool salt shaker and pepper grinder, a chopping board, an oven dish and a sugar bowl), a bottle of port and a bottle of gin for my liquor cabinet (aka space on top of the fridge) and two DVDs, Gladiator and Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy was obviously aimed at guys buying it as it had a fold out poster of the chick in a bikini. Stylie!

So the afternoon was spent up the end of the road training with the master. My arms are still tired (the forearms) from straining them but otherwise it was good. Am getting better slowly. After that I paid a quick visit to my Nana and Poppa then headed home for some dinner and a quiet evening watching Futurama.

What else? Am thinking I might do something for my birthday this year on the 15th July. Current ideas are to take two days off work (its on a Tuesday) go up to Ohakune and do some skiing or snowboarding. Anyone else keen to do this let me know and I'll look into arranging it.

Other than that I'm hanging out till pay day again. 28 days to go..
