The Book of Ashes
Legend in his own mind, creator of all you see here, he walks this Earth on the path of the becoming.

Camping at the Pinnacles 6:00PM
So there I stood, once again at the end of the world, well the North Island anyway, up at the Lighthouse at Cape Palliser. Down below me I could see the coast, covered with seals, lazily swimming around or basking in the sun. The coast stretched away in either direction, East to West for over 180 degrees. Its amazing to look down at so much sea. I think you can see the curvature of the world from there. 258 steps up to Cape Palliser light house. Dodgey steps.
So I finally made it back to the Pinnacles. Bonnie and I camped out at the base of the river there. I got to try out my tent (purchased almost a year ago) in near perfect conditions, no wind and a clear night. We walked up to the Pinnacles which was probably a 45 minute to hour long walk. They seem to just be steep banks of rocks, like normal river rocks but they stretch up so steeply. I have theories on how they were formed but I won't bore you with that. They are quite impressive and quite steep.
Friday night I caught up with Damian and Kelly at Zebos. We got a fire going and sat round that talking of life. They are looking to go to London for a month or so. Kelly is driving, Damian follows. Damian reckons 107 (105?) Dixon is keen for us back for the 100 club. The details must be organised. The tradition shall continue.
Caught up with Wayne (old flatmate from way back) on Thursday at a little out of the way bar called Havana. It was like a little house with a built in bar, cosy with a band playing in one corner. We talked work and life over a few beers. He is saving for a house now.
Life continues on. Its finally sunny here this weekend. Caught up with Steve also on Thursday for a beer in the sun. I think it rained, or at least tried too. It was a much needed catch up. He has two plasma TVs now, a 32" and a 42" (something like that). Also visited Sifty Tom. Or should we call him the phantom. Half his face is cut up and he has stitches after an unfortunete car accident. Hes alive though and should recover with possibly a scar to show for it. He is having a BIG party next weekend.
Almost forgot the brillant sunset we saw over a bottle of wine. Words alone cannot tell the story I saw, only a photo shall suffice, please be patient, webserver in progress...
All told, all said, back to the basking..
