Wellington Anniversary Weekend 9:50PM
Its been an excellent weekend.
Friday I caught up with Martin for a beer in the sun. Then we headed up to brother Tom's for a BBQ with Bonnie. Met up with my cousin Simon who has now moved down here. The BBQ was excellent.
Saturday we went out to Bev & Jo's for a pot luck dinner. Had an excellent feed and was great to catch up with them.
Sunday we headed out in the car to the Orongaronga's (just out past Wainuiamata). Only 40 mins drive from Wellington but a beautiful place. We carried out backpacks out for a 1 hour 15 min walk to a hut of Rob's family. It was pretty well setup with a gas powered fridge, an old stove and plates, shot glasses, everything you need. We had an excellent meal there that night and a bonfire out on the riverbed under the stars. I saw the brightest satilite yet.
Monday was a holiday for Wellington and it was a good thing. It was a perfect windless day in the valley. We had an excellent fry up of bacon & eggs with baked beans and mushrooms then headed out for a walk down the river bed. It was a little low for swimming so we built ourselves a kick arse damn. Nothing like building a damn to make you feel good. We built a pretty good one, raised the river level by about 20cm. Then we headed out and back to realitly. I rushed round to touch, was 10 mins late only to find the other team didn't turn up.
Tuesday was back to work and its time for another holiday agian. It rained and Bonnie locked herself out of the house.
