Trip to Kapiti Island... 7:24AM
I went for my first trip to Kapiti Island on the weekend. It was pretty cool. There were Weka's walking around all over the place looking for food and tonnes of birds everywhere. Mostly you could just hear them as they were overhead but you got to see a few up close. A most excellent idea to make the island into a reserve and it is working well. They even have some Takahe there (apparently) which is cool. Only 250 odd exist in total. Anyway I recommend to anyone who hasn't been. Go...
