Happy New Year everyone! 9:28PM
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!
I've had a good break. Caught up with Susan and Matt briefly on Sat night before Christmas (with Steve, Teresa, Tom, Jacqui, Chris + others).
Flew down to Queenstown the next day (Christmas eve). They lost two of our bags on the way but they turned up a few hours later. Stayed at Dad's new place in Queenstown. It is looking awesome. Huge house over looking the lake and we got cooked awesome meals.
Went for a walk around Arrowtown, bought some gold pans and had a go at that (but found nothing). Went for a 7 hour walk down Wye creek. Will post some photos up of that one as it is a beautiful walk. Went for a drive down to Te Anau and Manapori. Weather down Queenstown way was a little mixed. I got lightly sunburnt twice and it snowed on the Remarkables twice while we were there.
Back in Wellington on the 30th. Then headed up to Martinborough for New Years. Steve and Teresa had organised a house up there so a whole lot of us went up. That was pretty cool actually. It was meant to be BBQ in the sun and wine in the back yard but instead was overcast and drizzly. Still had a good time. So now its 2007. Seems like it was only yesterday that it was the year 2000 and everything was meant to end. Next it will be 2010 and then next thing you know I'll be retiring at the age of 65. Geeze time flies...
So 2007... what do you have in store for me? I have purchased a 2007 tramping calendar. I have a cool tramping book for Christmas so I am thinking a few tramps are in order. Time to organise them instead of waiting for them to happen. Queenstown has inspired me.
So hope everyone had a good one. Don't forget drinks at Mac's brewery tomorrow night at 6pm. Be there or be square. Thats right, I'm one of the sad ones who's going back to work tomorrow.
Later...
