Athens... 11:33PM
So the next leg of the flight was the hard one. 10 hours or so on a Lufthansa plane. This had less leg room and only one small crappy TV per aile rather than one in the back of each seat. However this didn't really matter much as we were sleeping most of the way. We arrived in Frankfurt some time around 8am just in time for a beer. As per usual the plane sleep was pretty crap. We hung around there for a while before hopping on our next flight to Athens.
So far no good window seats. Didn't get one from NZ to Singapore, had one for the night trip from Singapore to Frankfurt (darkness the whole way). And had one for the Frankfurt to Athens trip (yay finally) but it turned out to be the seat next to the emergency exit which had lots of leg room but only a tiny window in the exit door which I had to stand up to see out of.
We arrived to a very hot (28ish degrees) Athens. After a longish taxi ride in we found our hotel and turned on the air con. Ahh blessed air con. It was by now about 3 in the afternoon and we'd been travelling for about 48 hours. We went out for a walk around the streets, found the main tourist area and had a first Gyro (sitting down at a resturant on a plate but anyway it was good). We then headed home and crashed by around 8pm.
Next day though we were up nice and early for the 7am ferry out to Naxos and feeling pretty good...
(currently in Granada while writing this, just about ready to head up into the Alhambra...)
