An interesting day. Second in the line up of work days. Second day of getting up at 6am (because of daylight savings). A day of sun, rain, wind and sun again.

Did I mention we bought a free view box? $199 from Dick Smiths. We now have all channels in crystal clear digital. Awesome. It was pretty bloody easy to install as well. We already had the satellite dish and cable coming into the house so we just plugged it all in and set it to auto detect the channels and we were done. Rock on.

So its quite hard to fathom just how useless I am at pub quizzes. In fact I suck so much that if pub quizzes were IQ tests then I'd probably have an IQ of around 60. I can sometimes get 1/10 in a round, thats if I'm lucky and the worst thing is that I'm sitting in on Bonnie's team with her workmates who are rather good at it. In fact they came first tonight and won themselves a $90 bar tab. The only question I thought I might be able to help with was one starting out about Mt Aspiring (which I went to camp in Mt Aspiring park and have tramped all around there) and the question was which Island is Mt Aspiring in, the North Island or the South Island. I mean even if you didn't know theres not that many mountains in the North Island is there? Its not hard to guess...

I think my brain is just a sieve for useless facts (or any facts for that matter), while other peoples brain are like a blocked sink which just keeps filling up. I was thinking about this and how I could improve at general knowledge (and pub quizzes) and its not really anything you can put any effort into. I mean all the questions are facts built up over a life time of paying attention. If I start paying attention now then in 20 years time I might be alright but I still wouldn't know anything prior to 2007! Its not like painting and drawing where you can take a class and then practise in your spare time (or like frisbee or guitar or anything really). It just doesn't seem worth it to try and improve...

Free view means crystal clear rugby world cup, and its just starting to get interesting.
