Bulldozer on the roof 9:44PM
We were fascinated this morning as the building next door that was getting demolished (it has about 5 floors and they've striped it and taken the roof off) had a small bulldozer lifted in by a crane (the bulldozer is about the length of me, pretty small). We were wondering at how strong floors are to hold the little bulldozer when a huge drill bit was lifted up (almost as big as the bulldozer) and then another claw bit. Then the massive crane lifted up a big CAT thing (don't know what they're called) which had tracks as long as my car and wider than my car and a huge arm which the drill and claw went on the end of. It was pretty massive and they dumped it in the middle of the top floor. It then went to work on the concrete lift shaft and demolished it then started taking down the walls around it. I'm amazed at how strong the floor is to hold all that and that you can pull down a building this way. It has people walking around the street under it. We lost a bit of work time watching that.
Then we were talking about hold cold it was and I said that was nothing, I used to walk to work 3km in -8 degree weather in Alex each day. Mag said he biked 15km in -18 degrees in Sweden. So Sheryl comes out with when she was a kid and had to get up at 5am on the farm and go out and do something (milk cows?) it was freezing so they would take their gumboots off if their feet were cold and stick their bare feet in a warm cow poo. I couldn't believe it...
Definitely cold here at the moment though. 1.5 degrees outside the house this morning.
