The Book of Farm Girl

back in aussie 6:19AM

so i'm finally back in sunny country and hot it is!! sooo muggy. when i left nz airport yesterday it was 24 degrees in brisbane... at 3.30am!! got in at about 7.15am and it took over an hour to get through customs. 9 other planes had come in around the same time! it was crazy. so anna, kate, adrian (with flowers ;) and bronwyn had to wait for ages. apparently i was mistaken for heaps of different people including a middle aged asian man!

got home and we had a champagne breakfast. was really yummy with pancakes and maple (flavoured) syrup and ice cream and blueberries and grapes and baileys cocktails. all good. then i slept for a couple of hours 'cos by then i'd been up for about 11 hours already and it was only lunch time. got up, had a swim and then had dinner. earlier abbie and becky brown had called so they came round for dinner too. today being their last day in aussie of 3 months. was good to catch up with them.

once dinner was over everyone else started arriving for the party. heaps of people turned up and it was a really good night. gotta love duty-free vodka! had good catch ups with everyone and crashed even before midnight. not much sleep and the heat does that to ya. lots of our uni mates have flats near here now too which makes getting together heaps easier.

kinda strange being back. it's like i've never left but things have changed a bit. like my room has nothing in it.. the ceiling was falling apart so it got replaced a few days ago. all my stuff was taken out then and now the carpet is getting replaced tomorrow. so EVERYTHING from the bedrooms and living room has to be taken out and put in the kitchen, dining area and on the deck today. things are a bit hectic. won't even be able to unpack till sunday. tho i do have my bed in my room which kate kindly made up for me before i got here.

got birthday pressies too which was really cool. anna gave me a cool bag and kate, a picture she had taken of the sky in all these cool colours from our back deck, and i got all the ingredients and rolly things and stuff to make sushi from adrian 'cos i want to try and make some. had some sushi for lunch actually. me and anna have just spent about 2 hours in the shopping centre. i bought some much needed shorts for only $20. am stoked. go k-mart. am going to go to bed now tho. going out tonight too. midnight picnic at south bank, will be cool, then tomorrow off to the valley markets.
