cashflow clubs 1st event 3:03AM

the cashflow club had its first event last night. it was all good. they had a speaker, Frank Downes, who is a local successful businessman. he spoke about his business model, the heroes model. HEROES being an acronym for Honour the Expectations and Responsibilities Owed to Each Stakeholder. the stakeholders being the customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders and any regulatory bodies. he talked about how the CEO should try to ensure the balance of resources is kept even between each stakeholder and how the board should be independant and make sure the CEO is doing a good job of that. there was more to it than that but it was pretty much that simple. i was pleased to hear also that he believed the only way a business could run successfully was to remain honest and decent; that it is definitely possible to have a excellent business without always focusing on the bottom line and being ruthless and/or bordering on corrupt. i don't know where the idea came from that you had to be like that to make it in business but i'm glad its not true. i couldn't do it.

anyways, after that i went to the RE to join heaps of other engineers in the beer skulling competitions. i didn't actually compete but i definitely consumed a lot of beer. and reggie you'll be pleased to hear that CHESS won the boat races. i had a great night and am feeling pretty sweet today too. just a little tired. yey for chugging back water before you go to sleep. always keeps the hangover at bay.
