A quickie before heading home 5:31AM
No worries about the date time thing Ash I was just pointing out that I'm not the sort of grommit that sits behind a computer at 5am!
Really its cool since it reminds what time it is in NZ. Which is nice.
I'm bored with my current job.
Its not really giving my brain enough of a workout. I'm finding myself doing things to stop the boredom. Like today I was installing a printer driver on somebody's PC. I decided it would be an interesting UI experiment to see if I could do it without using the mouse at all. (Possible but very slow). Then on the next machine I made an automatic silent installer (okay using the HP software.. nothing too clever). Which made the next 11 machines I had to stick the driver onto a little quicker.
Actually this place is maddening. Thinking back to some of the totally sorted sites the engineers at work did in NZ, this place needs help. I didn't really appreciate just how bad things can be till getting here. It would save them so much dosh to just do a couple of simple things, A standard for hardware, rather than any thing the user sees that takes there fancy, an audit of the various applications
.. blah de blah.. enuff work dross already ..
Anyway onto the weather. Its sucks. No it really sucks. Yesterday it was raining cold and windy. It was almost like a Wellington winter day. Sure there have been some absolutely beautiful days. But there has been some utter rubbish too.
Ha! funny about your car incident Ash. Cos after reading that this morning, I leapt in the work car here with Marcus and headed out north for a site visit. On the way back the petrol light started flashing. We had '5 between us. But could we find a petrol station that had any diesel?
Not quite so bad since we eventually found some and got back only a little late... (But after Marcus put 40p worth over himself and the forecourt!)
