Okay things to yarn about 4:12AM

Okay things to yarn about.

The other day after my massive Sunday of extreme punting I managed to lock myself out of the place where I'm staying. The people I was staying with were all away for the weekend, and although they were supposed to show up on Sunday night they hadn't yet. No mobile phone contact worked. Now the flat is on the second story and has a mini roofgarden, balcony thing going on out the back. I'd only been popping out prior to locking myself out so I'd left my window in my room open, this opens out onto the roof too, although its tiny and set above the french doors. So I warned the people in the local pub downstairs that I was going to climb past their window and not to call the police. They really didn't seem to care. I got on the roof okay, although I realised I've got even weaker arms than I remembered. (Really gotta do something about that! I used to be pretty strong after a summer painting and climbing over scaffolding. But I've turned into a weakling).

The window looked higher and smaller than I remembered. Infact it was tiny. It was a mild night, and I contempalted sleeping on the balcony. But I could see my bed, and I still had a few beers kicking around in my bloodstream. So in I went. Now feet first would have been ideal, then I could have lowered myself down onto the window sill. But that involved getting above the window that hinged from the top. An impossible task. So it was head first. Half way through i thought how painful it might be landing on my head from that height. But the beer and the proximity of my bed kept me going. Discussing this with the people I'm staying last night they were impressed that I wasn't still stuck in the window when they got home. So am I.

Went to see Orbital the other day. They rocked. I've been listening to various Orbital stuff since about 1991 (I know .. I'm old!). Anyway to finally see them play live was wicked. They played stuff from the new album (Altogether) and classics from the past .. including the track in which they sample the Butthole Surfers (who probably sampled someone else). My friend with masses of CDs informs me that its from a CD single called 'Satan' that Orbital released a few years back.

Anyway the quote they sample goes something like this:
""Daddy, what's regret?""
""Well son, the funny thing about regret is its better to regret something you did do than something you didn't. By the way if you see your mother later tell her .. ""

(changes to big booming depths of hell voice with lots of reverb and echo)

""SATAN !"" ..
