Sleeping Arrangments 2:43AM
I'm using word pad so if there are any dodgy mis-spellings I blame that.
Last night was dang good fun. Cambridge is like another country after London.
Even getting to the gig was different. I was issued with a push bike, Clare
Harriette and I cycled off and met up with Hannah and her friend Rachel. Then
we cycled our way through the suburbs to the Junction. Which is a funny building
out in the middle of a bunch of warehouses.. away from houses that would be
annoyed by the music I suppose. It was dark, cold and misty which made the ride
even more surreal. I discovered that Hannah and Rachel are both from Essex.
To people around here thats kind of like the Hutt Valley is to Wellington. They
constantly mock their upbringing in the same most people I know from the Hutt
mock theirs.
The night itself was good. I was quite blown away by how big the PA was and
how wicked the lighting was. For the '6 it cost it was incredidle value compared
to most London nights out. Phat bass heavy d'n'b action all night. Got back and
tucked up into the spare room by 3am which makes a change from the normal late
London nights out too.
Any way I was lying in bed this morning thinking about my sleeping arrangments
for the last 11 months or so since leaving NZ. I've slept in:
7 Different hotels, in the USA (Lake Erie, Jackson, New
York), Canada (Niagra Falls), Switzerland (Villars), Denmark (Arhus), and Paris France.
1 Bed and breakfast in Ratagan, Scotland.
11 Couchs in England (London, Cambridge), Wales (Aberystwyth, Cardiff),
USA (Burlington, South Hampton MA)
8 Floors in England (London, Cambridge), Wales (Aberystwyth, Cardiff),
USA (Chicago), Scotland (Aviemore)
10 Hostels in USA (New York), Scotland (Too many to name)
9 Spare rooms or rooms belonging to others in the USA (New York), Scotland
(Aviemore), England (London, Cambridge)
3 Study room, or sun rooms England (Cambridge), Wales (Cardiff), USA
(Chicago)
1 Bed and breakfasts in Ratagan, Scotland.
1 Train (London to Cambridge)
1 Plane (Auckland to LA)
1 Castle (Wales)
The longest continuous stretch in any one has been about 4 weeks.
I've slept in 8 countries.
Contrast that with the year before:
2 Flats in New Zealand (Wellington)
1 Hospital in New Zealand (Wellington)
1 Tent in New Zealand (Nelson Lakes, Takaka, Catlins, Milford)
2 Different flats of my girlfiend in New Zealand (Wellington)
1 Girlfriends parents house in New Zealand (In some farmland somewhere..
;)
1 Parents house New Zealand (Wellington)
1 Hotel in New Zealand (Wellington) 2 Floor in New Zealand (Auckland,
Dunedin)
1 Room in New Zealand (Christchurch)
(probably some others that I can't remember)
The longest continuous stretch in any one was about 8 months at least.
They were all in NZ
